** PROBUS MEETING ON TUESDAY,  JUNE 9th AT ASHBOURNE GOLF CLUB **

21 members attended the meeting.

The talk today was given by Bob Hodgson who is an economist. It was entitled “Anecdotes and Reflections On a Global Career In Projects”.

Bob gave a short introduction on his career working in 78 countries, his learnings, which he hoped that he passed on, and also some failures.

He covered his talk under the following headings:-

Language and Understanding

Culture, History and Its Shadow

Oddball Projects

Main Takeaways.

Under each heading he told numerous stories, many amusing, from the countries that he had worked.

Chris Morris gave a vote of thanks, which the members showed in the usual way.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 14th 2026 when Tony Walden will give a talk entitled “The Buck Stops Here”.
